I’ve had the opportunity to design, style, market, sell… you name it I’ve been hard at work for this amazing new company, Blackbird Betty! If you aren’t familiar with the brand let me explain!
PARIS inspiration boards

When I traveled to Paris exactly 2 years ago, I never knew quite the impact it would have on me in the design world.I have been SO inspired by the beauty and elegance of the romantic city. From the astonishing Eiffel Tower, breathtaking Louvre, detailed architecture, and beautifully dressed people, the City of Lights has captured my heart and continues to inspire me!
How Tokyo Influenced My Style Part 2
- Picture #1 was taken in a beautiful traditional Japanese garden where we had a private tea ceremony in a little tea cottage. It is a very ceremonial tradition where they prepare and present the matcha, a green tea.
- Pic #2 is at the hotel on our last day. We enjoyed a delicious brunch and packed to head home.
- #3 was at the same hotel by a large Christmas tree. Christmas was very heavily celebrated all throughout Tokyo. The very bright tree next to me was programmed to the music and put on a very amazing light show!
How TOKYO influenced my style
As I packed my bags for Tokyo, I figured I better pack light because I knew that I would be doing a lot of shopping and therefore needed some room to fill up my suitcase. I knew it would be cold, so I grabbed my favorite oversized camel colored chunky sweater (because it goes with everything) basic tops to layer, a bunch of scarves, way to much jewelery (accessories are everything), three pairs of jeans (dark indigo, black, and red) a few dresses, two pairs of boots (good for walking in) and my leopard wedges.
The pictures above are all taken in Tokyo and the inspiration pictures on the side are various random pictures I took through out the eight day trip.
- Picture #1 was inspired by a Chinese lantern in the streets of Yokahama China Town and some beautiful Japaneses fabrics I bought for my mom at a little fabric shop.
- Pic #2 was taken on a cruise we took around the Tokyo harbor and the inspiration are from wine barrels outside the Meiji Shrine.
- #3 picture was taken by a cute little Christmas tree at the Intercontinental hotel and the inspiration came from gold Coach tags and shiny red ornaments.
- The last picture was taken after our Shabu Shabu dinner one evening wearing an outfit that I bought in Shibuya. The side pictures are of crab tofu that was quite delicious and some reddish pink geometric tiles.
Tokyo Street Style Cont.
More Japanese street fashion! The first picture are two girls that are representing the style Lolita. This look is sweet and girly Victorian-inspired dresses with an air of innocence and their darker counterpart are more gothic-inspired. These girls were hanging out in Harajuku, which was a street full of young people trying to out-dress each other. The other photos were snapped at Shibuya, the ultimate shopping destination for the young and hip. I absolutely loved it here. They had the most exciting new boutiques, plus the massive shopping mall Shibuya 109. I couldn’t get enough of this area, I went twice!

Tokyo Street Style 2011
My recent trip to Tokyo, Japan with my father was completely amazing! I had the opportunity to experience such a deep rooted, authentic culture and it was so refreshing to be around such respectful humans (no one honks in traffic, everyone bows to one another out of respect, silence on the trains, hello/goodbye everywhere you go, cleanliness). The traditions and culture are something everyone should experience. This journey has changed my life in a few ways. I tasted amazing foods. My favorite being the freshest seafood and sashimi. Also, SHABU-SHABU was amazing. More explanations and pictures soon! I had the chance to snap some photos of some outstanding outfits in the streets of Harajuku, Shibuya, Central Tokyo, Omotesando and Yokohama! These individuals really know how to express their personalities through their own sense of style. The Japanese spirit and playfulness speaks through their clothes. Above you will see fashions influenced by different cultures, deconstructed avant-garde sensibilities, Rockabilly: a throwback to old-fashion rock ‘n’ roll and Gyaru: Japan’s version of the California girl with short lengths, high heels, and tans. Check back for more amazing pix and different styles!!
Blackbird Betty Fashion Show
The Beauty of Christmas
While at a charity fashion show at the Sheraton Universal Studios last weekend I came across these beautiful, sparkly, elegant Christmas ornaments. I was instantly inspired and transfixed by the way these delicate ornaments shimmered in the lights. These had me contemplating on whether or not I needed to change the look of my current colorful themed tree (I chose to stay with the current). The holiday cheer is in the air. I definitely love this time of year! Happy Holidays!
Winter/Holiday Must-Haves
It’s that time of year to bundle up, stay warm, sip a hot drink, play in the snow and cuddle up by the fire. There are SO many cozy, cute warm clothes to choose from. My ideal look is a fur vest thrown over a fun holiday print sweater, skinny jeans, outdoorsy booties, a wrap scarf, paired with the Donna Karan knit fur gloves, so chic!
At this point, you need to start thinking about what dress(es) you are going to wear to all those holiday parties! The holidays are about wearing glitz, sparkle, and glamour. Make a statement in a bold color, lace or leather. Look for details that compliment your body type and a color that flatters you best. Don’t forget the pumps, awesome complimentary accessories and a clutch that will pull it all together.
